In our opinion, any time is a good time to visit Kenya! Due to the abundance of misinformation on this topic, here are a few things to consider:
- Wildlife is resident in their territories and can be seen all year-round. However, please remember that you’re not visiting zoos but rather natural reserves where animals live and move freely. Appreciate and enjoy each sighting!
- High season goes from July to October, which means more tourists, higher prices, and the possibility of witnessing the Great Migration in Maasai Mara National Reserve.
- Traditionally, the rainy seasons are in April, May, and November. HOWEVER, climate change is having a noticeable impact in the region, so you may encounter unexpected rains during the dry season and beautiful sunny days during the rainy months.
The best advice we can offer is to come whenever you can, with the right attitude to enjoy everything Kenya decides to offer during your trip, whether it’s sunny or rainy – it will be worth it!
To travel to Kenya, you need to apply for your visa online (cost: $51). If you book your trip with us, we’ll send you a video tutorial to make the process super easy, and we’ll always be available to assist you.
Currently, there are no mandatory vaccinations for entering Kenya when traveling from Europe (please check with us if you’re traveling from elsewhere). However, we always recommend that you visit your nearest international health center, where they can provide the best possible guidance based on your specific situation.
Sure! All our guides speak English as it is one of Kenya’s official languages. At Kitambo we are specialized on the Spanish-speaking market, however we will always be able to help you in case you request a guide who speaks a different language: French, Italian, German, Chinese…name it!
In our itineraries, we only include accommodations that we personally know and frequently visit, ensuring they meet all the minimum standards of cleanliness, comfort, and service. We carefully select various styles of accommodation, from lodges and cabins to cozy homestays and eco-camps, all the way to the most unique tented camps seamlessly integrated into their natural surroundings. We cater to different needs and budgets so that ‘where to sleep’ is not a concern for you.
We love that you want to embark on this exciting adventure with your family! It’s undoubtedly a thrilling journey for the little ones. However, you should keep in mind that on these routes, the vehicle plays a central role, so it’s important that your children can handle long road trips (there are, of course, technical stops, but we won’t lie, the distances can be quite long). In the Kitambo family, we’ve had adventurers as young as just 1 year old, although we believe that from the age of 4-5, they really start to enjoy it.
Important: We have child car seats available if you need them.
Kenya boasts a simple yet delicious cuisine that tends to be so enjoyable that it’s common to return home with a few extra pounds. In the accommodations, you’ll find buffets or à la carte menus featuring a variety of dishes made up of flour-based breads, stewed meats, plenty of vegetables, potatoes, pasta, or rice, among others. At times, you might also find more international dishes. It’s crucial that you let us know well in advance if you have any allergies, intolerances, or dietary restrictions, so we can inform the hotels. Don’t worry, Kenya is a great destination for vegetarians and vegans.
Absolutely! We can’t think of a better way to conclude your adventure in Kenya. It’s quite common for our travelers to wrap up our itineraries with a few days of relaxation on one of the exotic beaches in Africa. While destinations like Zanzibar, Seychelles, or the Maldives may already be on your radar, we recommend exploring lesser-known gems like Diani Beach, Watamu, or Lamu. These hidden corners are part of Kenya’s paradise-like coastline and offer the perfect blend of relaxation, tropical white-sand beaches, water sports in crystal-clear waters, and local Swahili culture.
Yes, we are aware this is the least enjoyable part of the trip, but…we make it easy for you! In all our trips, you’ll have the option to pay in installments, this way fulfilling your dream becomes less painful money-wise. Plus, as you already know, we are a local tour operator. This means our bank account is in Kenya, therefore you will have to make an international bank transfer. But don’t worry, when you book your trip with us, we’ll give you the best recommendations to help you minimize bank fees as much as possible.
This is very important! It’s essential that, at the same time you book your trip with us, you also buy a medical and cancellation insurance that covers any unexpected circumstances that may arise. You deserve to book your trip with total peace of mind, that is why we recommend our trusted insurance partner, Iati Seguros. On our side, we can only assist you in changing your travel dates if you cancel at least 60 days before your trip, but you will still be responsible for any incurred charges or fare changes.
